I started work on an open-source replacement for the existing closed-source empeg player software, but got distracted. I have it playing mp3s using the MAD library and doing a spectrum analysis visual, but so far there is no user-interface except the command line. It's still not really useful, but you are can play with the parts I have and make suggestions.

I also built some tools for creating and extracting `upgrade' files.

rio receiver

Unlike the empeg, the rio receiver has no local storage, but it is similar in many respects. I'm using slimserver to play my music on squeezeboxes, and I've now got the rio receiver performing very nicely as a proper slimserver client.
